The fabric touching your newborn's skin matters more than any print or bow. In the first months, a baby's skin is remarkably thin and sensitive — which is why we build every Minko piece around imported fibres chosen for softness first.
Pima cotton
Grown in long, silky fibres, pima cotton is noticeably smoother than ordinary cotton. It resists pilling, washes beautifully, and keeps its softness through months of daily wear — ideal for rompers and bodysuits worn against the skin all day, and for everyday tops and polos.
Double-gauze muslin
Two airy layers of loosely woven cotton make muslin the most breathable fabric in the nursery. It gets softer with every wash and is perfect for frocks, swaddles, and anything worn through a Pakistani summer.
Bamboo silk
Naturally temperature-regulating and almost weightless, bamboo fabric has a gentle drape and a cool touch — our choice for sleep suits, because comfortable babies sleep longer.
Brushed knit yarns
For cooler months we look for lofty, brushed yarns that trap warmth without weight. A good baby knit should feel airy in the hand, not dense — see our cardigans and sweaters.
What to look for
Whatever you buy, check three things: flat seams that don't rub, prints that are dyed rather than plasticky, and nickel-free snaps. Every Minko piece passes all three — it's the quiet difference you feel rather than see.
