Dressing a baby through a Lahore or Karachi summer is a balancing act: enough cover to protect delicate skin, little enough to stay cool. A few principles make it simple.
Choose fabrics that breathe
Double-gauze muslin and light pima cotton move air the way synthetics never can. If a fabric feels cool against your inner wrist, it will feel cool on your baby. Our summer edit is built around exactly these fabrics.
Loose beats less
Counter-intuitively, a loose muslin frock keeps a baby cooler than a tight sleeveless bodysuit — airflow between fabric and skin is what carries heat away. Airy rompers and frocks are your summer workhorses, and a cotton polo keeps older ones smart without trapping heat.
Time the outdoors
Keep outings before 10am or after 5pm, and favour shade over sunscreen for babies under six months. A soft muslin swaddle doubles as a pram sun-shade in a pinch.
Watch the AC swing
Moving between 40° streets and 20° rooms is harder on babies than either temperature alone. Keep a light cotton cardigan in the nappy bag for shops and drawing rooms.
The night rule
Dress baby in one light breathable layer, keep the fan on low, and check the back of the neck — warm is fine, damp means one layer too many. Our bamboo sleepwear is made for exactly these nights.
